Harvard's Campus Expansion
Harvard University is delicately planning for a new billion-dollar, 100-acre campus addition in Allston.
Harvard officials say pieces of a third option under consideration - devoting the Charles River land frontage to new dormitories, museums, research collections and libraries, and offices - will ultimately be blended into one of the other scenarios. The reason, university officials say, is the emerging belief among Summers and the six other members of Harvard's governing corporation that half of Harvard should someday be in Boston.
