When the acclaimed series, turned Netflix staple, Arrested Development refreshes on screens across the world for a long-anticipated fourth season, it will renew the settings and stylings of a distinctly American form of familial dysfunction. With it, writes Stephen Thompson for Architizer, returns an iconic ruin.

The half-built Bluth family home sitting alone and desolate on a subdivision plot carved into an arid hillside is a reminder of the depths of suburban blight following the 2008 collapse of the American real estate and financial markets.
