The Boston Globe comes our forcefully in favor of widening the main highway for coastal communities south of Boston.
"...While it would be desirable to have a coordinated transportation plan, its usefulness will be limited so long as local communities go their own way on zoning decisions, which tend to favor single-family homes over denser, less auto-dependent housing. Zoning can also be used to limit commercial development near a widened Route 3. Local decisions will determine land uses along the highway."
