"Phoenix is poised to go forward with a highly contentious plan to voluntarily buy as many as 1,111 homes west of Sky Harbor and to relocate the residents, beginning as early as next year... Many Nuestro Barrio residents are like Tallabas, people who bought their homes decades before Sky Harbor turned into the nation's fifth-busiest airport.Over the years, they have watched aircraft noise and pollution, followed by drugs, crime and blight, erode their property values as values elsewhere around the Valley skyrocketed."
