"Still, the worst commute in the nation, the Census Bureau said, is New York City. Despite the most extensive transit system in the world, New Yorkers average a 39-minute trip to work. That means commuters in New York spend about three entire days more traveling to work each year than those in second-place Chicago -- with an average commute of 33 minutes and 6 seconds -- and nearly five days more than those who work in San Francisco, the Census Bureau said."
