The Finance and Revenue Committee approved the Housing Act of 2001 that for the first time would commit a percentage of tax revenue to Washington D.C.'s Housing Production Trust Fund, which is designed to secure affordable housing for families of middle to low income. Housing is among the most critical and divisive problems facing the District.
