"A piece of architecture was created in Lower Manhattan last week, and architects had nothing to do with it...Most people just call it the Walls...Clearly, the walls have become a landmark, whether or not we choose to preserve them. Even if the decision is made to remove them, they can no longer be treated as junk. This is a major piece of our own place and time.
