Dekalb County, GA moves closer to creating a new nature preserve linking Georgia's Arabia and Panola mountains.

"Preserving the tract, which had been zoned for 4,000 houses and 11 acres of commercial development, had been deemed vital to creating the Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area. Without it, supporters said, it would have been virtually impossible to link the two mountains and other tracts in south DeKalb, Henry and Rockdale counties into one contiguous 4,000-acre preserve."
