All over the world, people are celebrating Park(ing) Day, taking over metered parking spots with homemade hangouts and parklets to reclaim public space dominated by cars.
Park(ing) Day has come along way since its creation in 2005 by Rebar, a San Francisco-based art and design studio. In 2010, 180 cities around the world participated, from New Plymouth, New Zealand to Bucharest, Romania.
