"A Pittsburgh-area model demonstrates it's possible to solve problems of sewer overflows, stormwater runoff, and urban revitalization at the sourcein the urban areas where the rain falls and the people liveby absorbing costs into incremental redevelopment... The Nine Mile Run model presents a "restorative redevelopment" approach to the sewers, ecosystem, and communities of the Pittsburgh region. Retrofit and redevelopment projects that are technically and economically feasible can improve the value and livability of the city while effectively restoring the watersheds natural functions."
