In these dynamic times, documenting your existing workforce strengths and making smart investments in training are essential to long-term prosperity. The fastest-growing professions require more skill, knowledge, and training than in the past. Businesses searching for sites today want more detailed evidence of workforce capacity, provided in less time, than ever before.
This web seminar covers Skillshed Analysis, a novel technique for assessing regional workforce assets and the types of skills most urgently needed. The Skillshed methodology is a thorough process that uses publicly available data and goes beyond traditional workforce analysis tools to focus on concrete skills, rather than broad professions.
By attending the web seminar, you will learn how to:
• Better assess existing skills in your community
• Identify the careers that are growing and declining locally
• Use workforce data to attract new employers and help existing businesses and entrepreneurs
• Use workforce data to partner with educational institutions
• Identify the skill gaps that prevent local workers from entering promising professions
Join IEDC to learn critical information on how to identify, market, and upgrade the skills in your community from Paula Nissen of Iowa Workforce Development and Wendy Mihm-Herold of Northeast Iowa Community College.
