The design-build methodology is as much philosophy as method. Is it right for you?
"Even though it has been around for decades, design-build is still a relatively new concept in terms of its widespread use. As a project delivery method, its still in the midst of a rapid growth period, although the astronomical projections of just a few years ago have come back down to earth. In reality, design-build is still just a theory on project delivery that is being interpreted and applied in many ways. What is constant in design-build, however, is the elimination of the traditional bidding process by consolidating the architects, engineers, contractors and owners of a project into some sort of collective entity. The idea behind this is simple: faster delivery, more cost control, less confrontation, and one goal-a successfully completed project."
