UIC offers Candian National Fellowship

The Urban Transportation Center (UTC), a research unit in the College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs (CUPPA) has received funding to develop a railroad freight-planning program. There are three components to the program:

* Research in areas of rail freight, such as grade crossing safety, infrastructure needs, efficiency measures and the impact of freight congestion;
* Workshops, Symposia and Visiting Scholar Lectures; and
* A CN Fellowship program that will fund an outstanding student with rail freight planning interests.

Applicants for the fellowship should submit all materials required for admission to the MUPP program (see http://www.uic.edu/cuppa/upp/prospective_students/ps_apply_mupp.html for more information on the MUPP application process), plus the following:

* GRE scores
* Resume
* One page statement of interest and career goals
* A research paper (preferably on a freight-related topic)

Recipient of the CN Fellowship will be required to submit a thesis (rather than Master's Project) for completion of the MUPP degree, on an approved freight-related topic.

Students interested in being considered for the CN Fellowship for the 2010-2011 academic year should submit the materials specified above postmarked by March 15 to:
