Metro Magazine, a transit industry trade publication, has named the LosAngeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority among the "10 MostImproved Transit Systems" in North America. The list appears in thepublication's April issue. Rounding out the magazine's list are: AthensTransit/The Bus (Athens, Georgia); Bloomington (Indiana) PublicTransportation Corporation; Greater Portland (Maine) Transit District;MetroTransit (Minneapolis); New York City Transit Authority; Phoenix(Arizona)Transit; Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority(Philadelphia);Toronto Transit Commission (Ontario, Canada); and Washington (D.C.)Metropolitan Area Transit Authority. The list was compiled using transitindustry ridership data and press releases, and executive summaries ofregional studies. The authors also based their findings on interviewswithindustry officials and nominations solicited via a fax survey and onMetroMagazine's website.
