Sun City Project Scales Back

This Texas developer is taking the unusual step of limiting development in order to increase revenues.

"In an attempt to boost profitability, Del Webb Corp. is scaling back its plans for Sun City, Texas. Company officials said they plan to sell a portion of the 4,200 acres of undeveloped land around the Georgetown, Texas, retirement community. Originally, the company planned to build 10,500 homes on 5,600 acres. To date, Del Webb has built 2,300 homes on 1,400 acres inhabited by about 3,500 people."
