"[T]he Community Foundation is unveiling its GreenWays Initiative, an ambitious 5-year effort intended as a catalyst to assist communities in financing development of their natural and recreational resources. Distinguishing the GreenWays Initiative from other ecological efforts around the region are two new ingredients: an unprecedented sum of money -- being raised from private sources -- and a strategic plan for linking green corridors throughout the seven-county region, from rural St. Clair County to the industrial heart of Detroit and as far south as Monroe.
