Southern California Food Industry Business Group Publishes New Website

Los Angeles, CA -- The Food Industry Business Roundtable (FIBR), a nonprofit business association dedicated to promoting the growth of the ethnic and specialty food processing industry in Southern California, has launched its new website: http://www.fibr.info/

The website features an extensive collection of resources for businesses in the food manufacturing industry, including:

  • Daily news from a variety of sources;
  • Free email newsletters;
  • Upcoming trade shows;
  • International trade resources;
  • Membership information; and,
  • A private networking and discussion forum for members.

    FIBR members include private firms and public agencies such as:

    Juanita's Foods,Tawa Supermarket/99 Ranch Market, El Burrito Mexican Food Products, Mikawaya, Pasta Mia, Quon Yick Noodle Co., and the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services Environmental Health Division.

    Southern California food manufacturing is made up of over 1,326 companies employing 51,000 employees and generating over $16 billion in annual sales (Source: Dun & Bradstreet, 2003). Small firms (i.e., manufacturers with 50 or fewer employees) represent two-thirds of all food manufacturing concerns in Los Angeles County.
