The suburbs of Brisbane, Australia could soon be home to 20-story high-rises under a new plan to accommodate the city's projected growth.
"A draft plan that sets out how the city will cope with an expected influx of 200,000 people over the next two decades proposes doubling the allowable density for dwellings in certain suburbs.
The 20-storey proposal is also double the height limit residents were first told they could expect outside the CBD and city fringe.
During early public consultation on the CityShape concept, residents were told high-rise buildings up to 10 storeys high could be built outside the city centre.
Under the proposal, residential buildings up to 20-storeys high would be allowed within 200m of the suburb's central transport infrastructure."
