Infill Mansions -- Sprawl Control Or Compromised Community Character?

Concerned about a growing trend of 4,000-plus square foot houses rising from the ashes of demolished older houses in traditional neighborhoods, the Town of Brighton has enacted a moratorium on such demolitions, to more carefully weigh the pros and cons of the trend. Developers claim the practice responds to current consumer desires, prevents rural sprawl, and encourages investment in inner suburbs; opponents claim the practice destroys traditional older homes and compromises the character of established older neighborhoods.
