How one Chicagoan rediscovered the city by giving up his car.

New City documents a year-in-the-life of a Chicagoan who "...missed that spirit of discovery, that tangible connection to the city that walking and riding the subway brought," so he decided to give up his car.

His car-free lifestyle, partially facilitated by I-GO, Chicago's non-profit car sharing organization, brings with it numerous benefits: reduced stress; better connections to local businesses and services; reduced expenses; and "surprising" social implications.
