Indonesia rejects UN aid for Aceh, instead creating the Agency for the Rehabilitation and Reconstruction of Aceh.

Officials in Indonesia created an agency, headed by a former minister of mines and energy, Kuntoro Mangkusubroto, to rebuild the devastated Aceh region. The government has rejected a UN proposal that would have infused more than $40 million into housing projects, citing the need for the government to be directly involved in the refugee housing.
