"Using entirely private financing and with the support of the local community, artist Lauren Bon plans to grow a $2-million patch of corn on a 32-acre barren lot that government officials eventually plan to convert into a state park.

Supporters of the installation tout it as a potential cultural attraction that will draw Los Angeles residents from trendy Westside neighborhoods and provide a positive introduction to this downtown-adjacent area."
