Taking a different perspective to the 'Wal-Mart question', one that is demand-side rather than supply-side, author and ex-Secretary of Labor Robert B. Reich urges us to consider our own choices as consumers, noting that "many of us pressure companies to give us even better bargains" though a direct result of this is that it "hammers workers and communities". He concludes that government regulations may be the only solution to ensuring quality jobs AND low prices.
