Creating a world-class college town is the impetus behind the competiton hosted by the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.
The large-scale plan includes five building sites, and will include new housing, shops, and a university square. The university plans to create a collection of distinct neighborhoods on campus. This is the second of nine planned developments.
"Interested parties have until November 30 formally to declare their intention to join the running. Once the competition gets under way and the full-fledged proposals are whittled down to three finalists by next March, an 11-member jury including architectural heavyweights Arthur Erickson, Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk, and Moshe Safdie will select a winner."
