Housing Prices Rise, Sales Cooling In So. California

The region posts a 20.4% year-over-year increase in prices in August, but only Riverside and San Bernardino show gains in the number sold.

Led by strong gains in the Inland Empire, the median price of a Southern California home hit a record $407,000 in August, a 20.4% increase from a year earlier, DataQuick Information Systems reported Wednesday. But signs of a cooling trend, both in the numbers and in the market, were abundant.
