Additional power for northern California will be delivered by a floating power plant from Texas.

A floating power plant from Texas is expected to arrive in the Bay Area in August as an emergency backup to prevent further power failures. Permits and authorization for the 95-megawatt floating plant have not yet been optained. Opponents of the power plant are planning demonstrations. But power officials are pragmatic: "The power crunch isn't going to go away," said Greg Pruett, a spokesman for PG&E Corp.
