"The UK government's plans to build up to 4 million new homes in the booming south-east of England may be stymied by severe shortage of suitably trained architects and urban designers, it has been claimed. The shortage comes at a time when new housing completions are at their lowest level since the 1920s. A lack of suitable designers may threaten the ability of Prescott's planning department, the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM), to deliver the 'sustainable communities' which he has promised to build."
