Four students from William and Mary College try to take over the Williamsburg city council to impact town/gown relationship.
If an all-student slate is elected, Williamsburg's next mayor could be a student from William and Mary. Three of the total five council seats in the Williamsburg, VA, will be filled in a May 5 vote. Limits on the number of unrelated people renting off-campus houses have sparked student political participation. According to the students, "at a recent City Council meeting students were referred to as 'a blight' on the community."
