Banned House Design Wins AIA Award

A nationally known architect won an award for student-targeted, pod house design that was banned from a campus neighborhood by city of Gainesville, FL.

"City officials argued that the house would bring more students to single-family neighborhoods - something now attributed to the decline of many subdivisions near [Univ. of Florida] ..."Casa Gator" was recently honored by the Florida branch of the American Institute of Architects for outstanding design...Maybe city planners should have taken the architecture class."
