"Take a clue from the name of the anti’s recent conclave in late February: 'Preserve the American Dream' Well, Advocates of 'smart growth' and 'new urbanism' need to continually emphasize their positive, affirmative urban visions. In contrast, the only vision offered by the anti-urban sentiments at Mr. O’Toole’s conference were negative: a lot more of the same, a situation that still has many unsolved problems that they are often unwilling to acknowledge. While some interesting, and perhaps even some feasible, solutions have been offered such as the 'HOT Lane' proposal, most of the anti-urban movement is in 'denial.'"
