The Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) movement has take hold in the Twin Cities. Now ADUs are allowed all over the city of St. Paul.
"By a vote of 6-1, the St. Paul City Council on Wednesday approved a citywide proposal to allow 'accessory dwelling units,' or mother-in-law apartments and granny flats," reports Frederick Melo.
There is plenty of fin print attached to the new ADYU regulation, according to Melo, including stipulations on everything from lot sizes to short-term rentals.
The most supportive councilmembers are also pushing for grants and loans to support the construction of ADUs.
