Low-power wide-area (LPWA) networks can be a great solution for IoT applications that have low data rates, require long battery lives, use low-cost modules and operate in remote locations. These networks can support many different services for cities
Narrowband IoT (NB-IoT) boasts many favorable features such as large capacity, low power consumption and deep coverage. Since the NB-IoT standards were released, it has expanded quickly in LPWA applications.
As of May 2018, 45 commercial NB-IoT networks have been globally deployed and more than 500,000 NB-IoT base stations have been established.
