"A decision by the state of Georgia to award a Jekyll Island redevelopment contract to the developer of Reynolds Plantation at Lake Oconee could wind up in a nasty court battle.

Challenging the deal is the Jekyll Island Revitalization Group, composed of developer Wood Partners of Marietta, Merrill Lynch and Jekyll Island Co., a partnership of Atlanta developer Wade Shealy Jr., Rolling Stones backup keyboardist Chuck Leavell and others.

Last week the group's lawyer, Robert G. Brazier of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, filed with the state an official protest of its decision to award the contract to Linger Longer Communities of Greensboro."
