The act updates the state's 1920s planning statutes, defines what should be included in a comprehensive plan, and authorizes the state Department of Commerce and Community Affairs to offer a variety of planning-related technical assistance. The Local Planning Technical Assistance Act is based on a model statute in APA's Growing Smart Legislative Guidebook, which provides options for modernizing state planning and zoning enabling legislation.
