ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE SENIOR TRANSPORTATION PLANNER

Under the general direction of the Principal Transportation Planner, this position will lead the Multimodal Transportation Program which includes leading various corridor planning efforts, oversight of travel management and active transportation programs.

The primary role of this position is to lead the development of plans and programs aimed at implementation of the regional transportation plan, ensuring projects are developed and designed with people in mind, and overseeing programs that activate and encourage residents, visitors, and commuters to disperse how, where, and when they travel. This position will supervise and have support from an associate planner. Collaboration is essential for success and involves working with local jurisdictions, non-profits, and other partners who implement projects. Advocating for safe multimodal infrastructure improvements and for reducing reliance on the automobile (per TRPA Compact) is part of the position. Additional responsibilities may include grant writing and reporting, data collection and analysis, plan writing, research, and contract and budget management.
