Paris launches a massive project to create a seamless wireless network and provide Internet connectivity across the city.
"A massive wi-fi pilot project has been launched in Paris that, if successful, ultimately will turn the French capital into the first truly wireless internet connected city on the planet...If the trial is successful, the partners involved in the project plan to put two or three antennae outside each of the citys 372 subway stations and to have them connected through the subway tunnels existing fibre optic network, creating a virtually seamless wireless internet network across the whole of the city."
