A new report charges that the climate change "threatens the ecosystems of every national park, refuge and seashore" in the United States.
"'The timing of the Bluewater Network report could not be any better,' said U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.). 'The report is shock therapy; if it doesn't motivate us to do something, nothing will.' The report said that potential impacts on the parks and public lands from global warming include the extinction of several endangered species; mosquito-borne diseases such as malaria; the loss of flora and fauna in many parks; severe wildfires; air quality problems; erosion and rising seas in coastal areas; melting glaciers and other problems."
