Drones could inspect roofs for leaks, track heat loss from windows, and more say officials in Hamilton County, Ohio. They also say they would consider adding drones to their toolboxes once federal rules are in place governing their use.
"Technology that helps the military fight in the Middle East might soon help Hamilton County patch leaking roofs," reports Dan Horn.
"County officials say small, civilian versions of unmanned drones could save taxpayers money and get work done more efficiently and safely. In a not-so-far-off future, they say, drones could inspect the canopy of Paul Brown Stadium, find holes in roofs, survey storm damage, search for criminals, and use infrared cameras to detect wintertime heat loss from windows."
