"The authors analyzed census reports and satellite photos to reach their conclusions. Neighborhoods were put in the 'sprawl' category if population density fell below 12 people per acre...On average, 10 acres were developed every day in greater Seattle, eight acres in greater Portland, just four acres in greater Vancouver."
