The annual International Builders Show has typically offered some pretty lousy home designs. This year the push is for "fusion homes."
The 2002 New American Home is an example of "fusion-style architecture," according to architect Melanie Taylor of New Haven, Conn. "We have taken classic American style and combined it with more exotic influences, spicing it with the flavor of the Caribbean and infusing it with new technology.... The four-bedroom, 51/2-bath house, in a development of traditional Georgian brick homes called Vining Estates, also was designed to look as if it was added to over time rather than built all at once..."
