Announcing the 2012 Initiative for Bicycle and Pedestrian Innovation Workshops and New Scholarship Program
Initiative for Bicycle and Pedestrian Innovation at Portland State University
IBPI's professional development program supports sustainable transportation in communities across the country by giving practitioners the knowledge and tools to better plan and promote bicycle‐ and pedestrian‐friendly places. Workshop participants often find themselves changed by the experience of cycling and walking in Portland's "living laboratory" and return to work as enthusiastic promoters of active transportation. This enthusiasm can drive policy and planning changes at the local level in support of sustainable transportation.
Shrinking travel and training budgets, especially at local government and non-profit levels, prevents some professionals from participating in our workshops. That's why we're so pleased to announce a scholarship program that will provide varying levels of support for 30 individuals to participate in one of the following 2012 workshops (recipients may receive a scholarship to only one 2012 workshop).
