Ethical challenges pervade the field of planning. Understanding how to address these challenges is critical for planners at all levels.
This three-hour seminar provides professional planners with a thorough and thoughtful discussion of ethical concerns that many planners are likely to face in their careers. Ethics expert Carol Barrett, AICP, examines the AICP Code of Ethics, and applies its standards to common examples in everyday planning. This course is a great way to stay conscious of the ethical issues planners face.

CM Credits
This seminar has been approved for 3 AICP* certificate maintenance (CM) credits, and fulfills the required 1.5 Ethics CM credits. (AICP members must earn a total of 32 CM credits within their two-year reporting period; A minimum of 1.5 credits must be on the topic of ethics.)

About the Instructor
Carol Barrett, AICP, is a highly acclaimed expert in planning ethics. She is author of Everyday Ethics for Practicing Planners, widely regarded as the definitive work on planning ethics. Carol is a former president of the American Planning Association's Texas Chapter. She is also a past member of the AICP Ethics Committee and the Joint APA/AICP Ethics Awareness Committee. She served on the 1978 Committee, chaired by Jerry Kaufman, which drafted the AICP Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.
