A monastery in Morristown developing a senior living complex is facing strong opposition from its neighbors.
"St. Mary's Abbey in Morristown N.J., which runs the well-respected Delbarton private boys school, want to use 42 of their 380 acres to build a retirement community for as many as 400 senior citizens. To do so, however, they need a zoning change from the Morris Township Planning Board. But neighbors in surrounding communities, who pride themselves on living in the area where George Washington and his army spent two winters during the American Revolution, have crowded planning meetings to complain that such a development would ruin the area's natural beauty and burden its public services."
