The Department of City and Regional Planning invites applications for a tenured position at the full or associate professor level, effective July 1, 2008. The department seeks outstanding candidates with a strong commitment to contribute to scholarship and practice in land use planning, environmental planning or any closely related field. Attractive candidates would be well known for their outstanding scholarship, funded research, student mentoring, teaching experience, and professional service.

The department currently has over 100 full time graduate students in the M.R.P. and Ph.D. programs as well as undergraduate minors in Urban Studies and Planning. The 16 faculty members are known for their scholarship and extensive contributions to planning practice. Over its 60-year history, the department has established a distinguished tradition of training professional planners in its M.R.P. program and developing future scholars in its Ph.D. program.

The M.R.P. program offers specializations in land use and environmental planning, transportation planning, design and preservation of the built environment, economic development, and housing, real estate and community development. The department has seven dual degree programs including landscape architecture, law, and public health. The faculty participates in the Institute for the Environment (a multidisciplinary initiative aimed at environmental sustainability), environmental science and management, public policy, public health, and the School of the Environment at Duke University.
