A new proposal in Florida would have users strap their cars to high speed rail platforms.

"Forget about building sleek European bullet trains for travel around Florida. Think instead of clamping you and your family van atop a big sled and getting slung down a track at 125 mph. Sci-fi madness worthy of Popular Mechanics? Or the answer to the demand from Florida voters that the state begin building a high-speed rail by 2004? "It sounds like something from the Jetsons," Kirston Henderson admits. But the founder of Fort Worth, Texas-based MegaRail insists it's possible. Floridians approved an amendment to the state's constitution last year requiring construction of a high-speed rail system around the state."
