There's Still Time To Register For Neighborhood And Brownfields Redevelopment
Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy, Rutgers University
You have until April 26 to register for Neighborhood and Brownfields Redevelopment. This is an online, instructor-guided course offered by Bloustein Online Continuing Education for Planners program at Rutgers University's Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy. It is taught by Karen Lowrie, an urban planner with the National Center for Neighborhood and Brownfields Redevelopment at the Bloustein School.
The course explores critical planning issues in brownfields redevelopment, including: quality of life issues at the neighborhood level; technical challenges of brownfields, TOADS, and other environmental challenges; organizational actors and building local capacity for revitalization; and lessons learned from successful brownfield and neighborhood redevelopment projects.
You will be in an instructor-led course with other planning and community development professionals from around the United States. The class is entirely online. You can participate from almost any computer with an Internet connection. There are no scheduled meetings. You learn from the course materials and through online dialogues with other professionals.
Since the program began in April 2005, course evaluations show that planning professionals learn a great deal in their BOCEP courses and find the online system easy to use. More than 150 professionals have taken BOCEP courses.
Neighborhood and Brownfields Redevelopment costs $250 and runs from April 19 to May 27. Every BOCEP course is eligible for 14 continuing education units from the American Institute of Certified Planners To learn more about the class, or to register, please visit http://www.policy.rutgers.edu/bocep/courses.html#nbr
