Learn Innovative Affordable Housing Strategies And Build Your Urban Design Skills
Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy, Rutgers University
You can learn innovative strategies in affordable housing or build your urban design skills in February courses offered by Bloustein Online Continuing Education for Planners (BOCEP).
Courses run from February 22 to April 1. All BOCEP courses provide high quality education, are convenient and are affordable. Our classes blend the best qualities of traditional and online training. Each class is led by an instructor and provide ample opportunities for students to share ideas with each other. But there are no scheduled meetings, and you can participate from virtually any computer with an Internet connection. Courses are 5 ½ weeks long. This includes time for orientation and introductions and an examination for students pursuing a Certificate of Completion. Students typically spend an average of about 5 to 6 hours per week in their course. Courses cost $250 each, but Planetizen subscribers get a 10% discount. Use promotion code: F0883.
In course evaluations, an overwhelming majority of planning professionals said they would recommend BOCEP to junior-, mid- and senior-level colleagues.
Remember those studio courses where you learned by solving problems with your classmates? You can do that with urban design professionals throughout the United States in Urban Design Studio. This course, the only online studio available, is for urban designers, zoning and planning professionals to learn by working on projects together. The instructor, Matt Wanamaker, is an urban designer and planner with Looney Ricks Kiss in Princeton (NJ) who specializes in participatory design.
If you want to learn better ways to get affordable housing built, consider Affordable Housing Strategies. This course focuses on innovative approaches to promoting and developing affordable housing. The instructor, Michael Skrebutenas, is Director of Modernization and Planning for the Bridgeport (CT) Housing Authority, and former senior staff member at the housing advocacy organization Common Ground.
If you're taking the Professional Planner exam or want to strengthen your knowledge of legal issues in New Jersey, consider New Jersey Planning Law. The instructor, William Kearns, is a nationally-known land use lawyer and former planning board member and mayor.
BOCEP is a professional development initiative of Rutgers University's Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy.
