Special Discount on Environmental Planning Law Course
Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy, Rutgers University
If you work in community development, smart growth, transportation planning, agricultural planning or open space planning, you should be fluent in the laws that protect environmental resources. If you're not sure, or you need a refresher, consider taking Environmental Planning Law through Bloustein Online Continuing Education for Planners.
Running from January 11 through February 18, Environmental Planning Law covers environmental legal issues at the federal, state and local levels. Students will get a solid grounding on environmental laws that planners most work with, and also learn about new legal developments. Instructor Dawn Jourdan is a land use attorney and assistant professor at Texas A&M University. She provides legal advice to the American Planning Association and has advised clients on smart growth issues.
You can register until January 20. We are offering a special promotion for Planetizen subscribers and readers -- you can take the course for $150. Please use promotion code EPL1001.
Bloustein Online Continuing Education for Planners (BOCEP) offers convenient, reasonably-priced and high quality professional development. You can participate in class at any time from a computer with an Internet connection. There are no scheduled meetings. You learn in a seminar style, through shared readings and facilitated dialogues with the instructor and classmates. Most BOCEP students have between 5 and 20 years of planning experience and come from around the United States. Students spend on the average about three to six hours a week on their class. You would learn as much, or more, as you would in a weekend seminar.
Does BOCEP work? Consider this: We've had more than 140 enrollments since April 2005. Course evaluations show that 56% of students said their course met or exceeded their expectations, and 97% of students said some of their expectations were met. About 78% said they learned "a great deal" in their course and that the online discussions helped them learn the material. The online platform is intuitive and easy to use. Most students never have to use technical support (available 24 hours a day).
Please visit the BOCEP website at http://www.policy.rutgers.edu/bocep to register or get more information.
