Envision Sustainability Tools Inc. is pleased to announce the release of MetroQuest™, the public engagement tool designed to create and compare future urban scenarios, to be used for the ongoing imagineCALGARY program.

The City of Calgary is leading imagineCALGARY; the exciting initiative to create a 100-year vision that will ensure Calgary's quality of life remains high for future generations. Making this vision happen will require a public consultation process that engages stakeholders in a broad-based dialogue on a wide-range of issues.

The core principle of imagineCALGARY will be collaborative engagement. Over the next year, imagineCALGARY will engage citizens and organizations concerned about the future quality of life in Calgary. Their shared task will be to imagine the kind of city and region they want to build for their families and future Calgarians.

MetroQuest is a powerful computer simulation tool used by cities and regions to promote sustainability, long-term strategic planning, collaboration, and consensus building. MetroQuest will help participants understand how a decision taken in one part of the urban system, such as housing density, can have an impact on other parts of the urban system, such as transportation and air quality.

Individuals or groups explore future scenarios for their region through a comprehensive series of maps and graphs connecting a wide variety of regional issues ranging from water capacity and transportation to energy use and population growth. With MetroQuest, users design and visualize alternative future scenarios, evaluate scenario performance, and compare and rank alternatives.
