Anti-Sprawl Arsons In Arizona

Luxury homes are being built at the edge of the desert near Scottsdale. Anti-sprawl activists are burning them.

The arsonists call themselves The Coalition to Save the Preserve. Locals call them mountain-biking ecoterrorists. The group does not want the homes infringing on the Phoenex Mountains Preserve, a 29,000-acrea Sonoran Desert oasis. The arsons have generated a lot of discussion on the subject of sprawl within the area.
